LA GRANDE PLACE THE SAINT-LOUIS CRISTAL MUSEUM

Organized around the remains of an old furnace, the great hall presents 1,500 historical pieces produced at the royal manufacturers over four centuries. Coloured, engraved and gilded crystal receive pride of place here. The museum retraces the most glorious eras, such as the 18th century during which Saint-Louis penetrated the mystery of crystal manufacture. The visit takes the form of a gradual ascent along a walkway skirting three sides of the production area where the collections are displayed and there are balconies jutting out over the production area to view the activities below.
