From the skies above Jerusalem, three birds—a bulbul, a drara, and a black swift—fly, observe, and comment on the human world below them. In particular, they are investigating the Israeli military’s killing of Iyad Al-Hallaq, a young Palestinian with autism. With *In the Name of the Sky*, Yuval Rozman literally takes a bird’s-eye view of this tragic event. He crafts a black comedy in which the birds’ free and lucid speech attempts to explore this tragedy by staging a trial. On stage, an actress and two actors, entirely adorned in feathers, build themselves a giant nest right in the middle of the stage and take flight for aerial acrobatics using straps. On the ground and in the air, amid bullets, prayers, songs, and winds of hope, these birds attempt to make sense of human folly with wit and humor. Following *Ahouvi*, which opened the Primeurs Festival in 2024, Yuval Rozman continues to explore the connection between his Israeli roots and his reflections on the Israeli-Palestinian territory through theater with this latest production. An excellent way to address, with wit and a healthy dose of self-deprecation, one of the major conflicts of our time that has persisted since 1948.
