Marie Barbottin choreographs a performance for five fifty-year-old dancers who share their journeys, stories, and aspirations. Blurring the lines between documentary and dance fiction, this piece explores the passage of time and the stories told by the artists’ bodies after years of physical commitment on stage. Drawing on a multitude of intimate stories from women of all ages and backgrounds—whom she met during the creative process—author Camille Froidevaux-Metterie crafts a textual framework that blends with the performers’ voices. Together, they examine the place of women’s bodies in the performing arts world—a world often captivated by youth—and offer a sensitive celebration of sisterhood. *À l’aune de leurs peaux* is an invitation to see the beauty of skin marked by time in a new light.
