An avant-garde choreographer trained in classical dance, Forsythe has been overturning the codes of ballet for several decades, relentlessly reinventing the very writing of movement. For him, the deployment of the body in space becomes the raw material for a search in which the notion of imbalance constantly challenges gravity. Additive Inverse, a piece created in 2007, plunges the Studio du Centre-Pompidou Metz into a thick fog from which luminous circles emerge. Their presence is dependent on the careful movement of visitors, with the density of their occupation of the space subtly influencing the pattern of intertwined circles.
