Watch out—it’s a masterpiece! In 2019, the British newspaper *The Guardian* named *Let Me Tell You* by Danish composer Hans Abrahamsen “the most important work of the 21st century.” Performed by soprano Ilse Eerens, this musical adaptation of Shakespeare transports us to icy landscapes of breathtaking beauty. To borrow the title of the piece, let us tell you that the orchestration is absolutely sumptuous and that the vocal line exudes a wild romanticism. We find the same stunning mastery of effects in Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, which includes some of the most famous passages in the repertoire. Finally, Finnish conductor Emilia Hoving presents two masterpieces by Sibelius, notably Symphony No. 6, in which the orchestra sparkles like the Northern Lights.
