La Citadelle MGallery, FRAC Lorraine, and Secours Populaire de Moselle are joining forces for a unique artistic project. For the first time, the Hôtel La Citadelle MGallery, FRAC Lorraine, and Secours Populaire de Moselle are collaborating on a project that brings together art, solidarity, and local history. Over the course of several months, this project brought together artists, students, and community leaders around an object that is both simple and deeply symbolic: the blue work uniform. Ten renowned local artists, along with five students from the École supérieure d’art, agreed to transform this iconic garment into a work of art. This choice echoes the mining and steel-making history of the Moselle region, honoring those who shaped our region’s industrial identity, as well as the values of work, tradition, and solidarity. Each artist offered their own interpretation of the work uniform, giving rise to original and unique works of art. Through this project, the three partners aim to create a space where two worlds that do not always intersect—that of artistic creation and that of solidarity—can meet. The project is led and supported by painter Matthieu Gauthier, the patron of this first edition, who is committed to bringing these two worlds together in a central hub of Metz’s artistic life. He has also chosen to donate two of his works to the project. All proceeds will go toward the work of Secours Populaire de Moselle in support of people in precarious situations. Beyond the sale, this initiative aims to remind us that access to culture and access to solidarity can go hand in hand and, together, help build connections.
