To foster mutual enrichment around the table, “Échanges gourmands” offers international students and researchers the opportunity to meet local hosts for a Sunday lunch.
What is “Échanges gourmands”? The City of Metz and the Metz Euro-Metropolis are home to approximately 4,000 international students. To help them settle into their new surroundings while fostering connections with local residents, the two municipalities and the Crous Lorraine have been organizing Échanges gourmands since 2009.
The concept is simple: households in Metz and its metropolitan area host international students and researchers who have come to study in the region for a Sunday lunch, introducing them to French culture and local life. These friendly gatherings give international students the opportunity to forge lasting bonds with local residents and feel at home in their new city. This highlight of student life in Metz offers both students and researchers, as well as their hosts, the chance to experience a time rich in sharing and exchange.
Schedule for the 2026 edition:
Saturday, November 14, 2026: Participants meet for the first time (the location will be announced upon registration) for a variety of activities.
Sunday, November 15, 2026: Hosts welcome one or more international students and researchers into their homes to share a friendly lunch.
How to register? International students and researchers, as well as hosts, can register through November 8, 2026, using the online form on the Crous Lorraine website.
After registering, participants will receive an email detailing the event’s logistics. This event is organized in partnership with the Crous Lorraine, the Inspire Metz - Tourist Office, and the Cap - House of Students, Youth, and Associations.
