Nécropole Nationale de Metz Chambière Rue du Général Miollis
The World War I Heritage Mission is launching the first edition of the Grands Jours de la Mémoire, a traveling event across France and Belgium, centered on the burial and memorial sites of the Western Front—which have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2023—from Alsace to Flanders.
Young people from Moselle will participate in a ceremony centered on the flame of the Unknown Soldier, collected in Verdun. The morning will provide an opportunity to discuss the meaning of commemoration, the symbolism of the necropolis, and the history of the flame. An exhibition on the burial and memorial sites of Alsace-Moselle listed as World Heritage Sites will be on display in the chapel of the Chambière necropolis.
