Jonathan Fournel made his international debut by winning the highly prestigious Queen Elisabeth International Grand Prix—Queen Mathilde Prize in the spring of 2021. Jonathan began playing the piano at age 7 in his hometown of Sarreguemines in eastern France before being admitted to the Musikhochschule in Saarbrücken, Germany, where he studied under professors Robert Leonardy and Jean Micault. At age 16, he enrolled at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. He has been a guest performer at renowned festivals and venues around the world, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, the Philharmonie de Paris, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.
