Tracce – Traces is a creative and theatrical exploration of the legacy of Italian immigration in Lorraine. Without claiming to be exhaustive, we’ll open a window onto the starry sky and onto life journeys between Lorraine and Italy, between mines and factories, dreams of a better future, and nostalgia for the distant lands of childhood. Whether it’s walking barefoot on the sand in Gioia Tauro or along the transhumance trails in Abruzzo.
We will lend an ear to those who are leaving and must build a new life, learn a new language, say their goodbyes, and start all over again elsewhere.
We will let in the wind that carries us and observe the transformations. We will follow in their footsteps to get to know the other who is also a part of ourselves.
This project was developed with young Italians serving in civic service, citizens of Lorraine, and people who shared their stories with us.
