The Sarreguemines Lions Club will be putting on a fun and original afternoon event: a big race... with plastic ducks!
No fewer than 5,000 numbered ducks will be poured into the river Sarre from 2pm, near VNF. Carried along by the current, they will set off in an unusual race to the finish line, located at the Ludwig footbridge, near the Casino des Faïenceries esplanade. To guide the competitors, members of the kayak club will be on hand, equipped with large landing nets.
To take part, all you have to do is buy a ticket before the event and encourage your duck along the way. The first 100 to finish will win their "owners" a number of prizes, including a trip worth €1,000 and a television.
Throughout the afternoon, the esplanade will come alive in a festive and convivial atmosphere, with concerts by young local artists, entertainment and catering provided by the Lions Club until 6 p.m., to the delight of young and old alike.
Beyond its recreational aspect, this event also aims to show solidarity: all profits will be donated to the Ligue contre le cancer to support its local actions.
