Alsace Through the Lens – When Photography Becomes Ceramics.

To mark the bicentennial of photography, the Sarreguemines-Passions association is presenting an exhibition at the Sarreguemines Ceramics Museum dedicated to the remarkable photographic earthenware pieces depicting Alsace.
In the early 20th century, the Sarreguemines Pottery Factory pioneered a new technique by transferring photographs onto ceramic using photolithography. Villages, landscapes, monuments, and scenes of Alsatian life were thus transformed into decorative objects and souvenirs.
Through these rare pieces, the exhibition explores the intersection of photography, ceramics, industry, art, and regional identity, set against a backdrop marked by the growth of tourism and regionalism.

A journey into a photographed Alsace, depicted and transformed into objects of memory.
