Inaugurated on 20 June 2017, the monument is in the effigy of the 1st infantry regiment.

It was created to mark the 50th anniversary of the presence of "Picardie" in its garrison in Sarrebourg. Placed in the rue de Lunéville, it was made by the artist-sculptor Eric Alvarez. It is represented by the regimental badge surrounded by key motifs, such as a military vehicle or armed soldiers. The aim of this sculpture is to make the Saarbrücken institution more visible in the city and at the same time to create a link between the army and the nation.
