Visiting
Heritage wherever you look
Traces of Moselle’s storied past can be found at its archaeological sites, museums and heritage centres. Imposing castles, fortified churches, fortresses and military sites along the Maginot Line built in the build up to the Second World War speak of its Heritage wherever you look strategic location on the Eastern frontier.
Its rich natural environment allowed traditional crafts, such as ceramics, glass and crystal to flourish, thanks to the master craftspeople of Pays de Bitche-Sarreguemines and Sarrebourg.
Moselle also boasts unique industrial heritage, the legacy of mines tapping into the rich salt, coal and iron ore reserves that lie below the ground in Marsal, Petite-Rosselle, Aumetz and Neufchef.
