This hike takes you along part of the route of the Eselbahn*, the old metric railway linking Lutzelbourg to Drulingen, which was used to transport the blocks of sandstone cut in the quarries of Vilsberg and Hangviller to the Marne-Rhine canal at Lutzelbourg. (*Esel = donkey: illustrates the average speed of the convoy)
