Metz, a cultural capital

Birthplace of the poet Paul Verlaine, Metz was also the first French city to receive the “UNESCO Creative City” designation in the field of music in 2019. A distinction that demonstrates the Moselle capital’s status as a leading cultural hub at the national level.

With its festivals, the Cité musicale-Metz, its inclusive cultural venues, its museums and its exceptional heritage, the city breathes culture in the broadest sense, to the delight of both Moselle residents and the many tourists who discover it each year.
