Nuit européenne des musées au Parc Explor Wendel

European Museum Night will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026. That evening, many museums in France and Europe will open their doors free of charge, starting at dusk. This year marks the 22nd edition of the event.
The Parc Explor Wendel program includes a visit by flashlight only. The public will be invited to follow the work of a coal miner in total darkness.
At 8 p.m., a lively and hypnotic performance by the Nist-Nah Ensemble will offer a meeting between tradition and experimentation: a plunge into the bewitching world of gongs, inspired by Asian traditions.
Café Kaffeeklatsch will be open throughout the evening.

An unusual experience at Parc Explor Wendel

A visit to the Les Mineurs and Wendel Mine museums takes place in a hushed, almost mysterious atmosphere. Equipped with flashlights, visitors follow in the footsteps of the miners, in a darkness conducive to immersion.

The first stage is a visit to the hanged men's rooms, the showers and the lamp room, where miners donned all their equipment: overalls, cap lamp, helmet, emergency breathing system.... After traversing the impressive mine floor, dominated by its 3 headframes, you are immersed in the bowels of the earth as you pass through the elevator shaft simulator, which transports you, without actually doing so, almost 1,200m underground... The discovery of the rock, tracing and flatwork workings, also plunged into the night, brings the experience as close as possible to what the miners knew and experienced 20 years ago.
A gripping experience, both historical and sensory.

Ensemble NIST-NAH

Ensemble Nist-Nah, founded in 2019 by Australian percussionist Will Guthrie, offers an immersive sound experience at the crossroads of gamelan and experimental music. Led by eight musicians from diverse backgrounds, the group explores a vibrant universe of gongs, bells and resonant metals, where fascinating rhythmic and harmonic architectures unfold. Inspired by the traditions of Indonesia and the gong music of Southeast Asia, their music eschews folklore in favor of a lively, collective and constantly evolving approach. Between trance, hypnotic repetition and original sound textures, each performance becomes a space for intense, shared listening. Nurtured by influences ranging from Javanese rituals to the most audacious contemporary explorations, Nist-Nah constructs a singular language that is both rooted and resolutely contemporary.
More than a concert, it's an invitation to enjoy a rare and captivating sonic experience, starting at 8pm (booking required).
