Exhibition - Between mystery and light

Entering the secrets of the great masters by trying to reproduce their paintings is a fascinating adventure. Understanding how they create atmosphere, give rise to emotion and bring light to life deeply nourishes the artist's approach.

How does the painter manage to instill this almost palpable presence? How do eyes, posture and light become language? Each face tells a silent story, exuding an invisible energy, somewhere between mystery and light. Gesture, nuance, shadow and radiance become the messengers of deep emotion. Her paintings are an invitation to contemplate these suspended moments, these fragments of the soul where gesture, intensity and a sensitive language are revealed.

Pierrette Jager presents portraits of artists she has interpreted in her own way, in watercolor and Indian ink: Camille Claudel, Käthe Kollwitz, Georgia O'Keeffe, Paul Cézanne... She also adds a few paintings by great artists, reproduced in watercolor, in a respectful dialogue between their work and her interpretation.

As Paul Cézanne wrote: "Art without emotion is not art. It is this emotion that she humbly seeks to explore and convey through each portrait."
