Conférence - Réflexions sur la copie

One Thursday a month, meet an artist, a work, a movement or a current of thought that has marked the history of art.

By Fulvia Carnevale, member of the Claire Fontaine artists' collective

Claire Fontaine turns copying into a critical tool. Using a faithful reproduction of the Mona Lisa commissioned from a professional copyist, the artist covers Lisa Gherardini's face in deep black, absorbing all light and legibility. This radical gesture questions the status of the image in an age of visual saturation, between media worship and symbolic erasure. In this talk, Fulvia Carnevale, a member of the Claire Fontaine artist collective with James Thornhill, offers her thoughts on copying.
The talk will be followed by a reading of her latest book, Insula, by Théo Casciani, and a signing session. The artist is taking part in the exhibition Copistes.

This lecture is free for Pass-M SOLO, Pass-M DUO and Pass-M Jeune members.
