Historic monument or place to visit in RECHICOURT LE CHATEAU, on the theme(s) Industrial & technological heritage.
"My main aim in painting this heron was to give nature back its rightful place. This concrete wall in the heart of a green setting deserved a makeover! You can see it from a distance, and guess at the elegance of its features. Then you discover the elements that make it up, the multitude of story-telling characters nestling in its feathers. And it was only as I met and talked to the lock-keepers that I realised the symbolism I wanted to give it: in the end, this bird is them. In the end, the bird is them. It watches over the passage of sailors to the rhythm of the water, and uses its benevolence to protect the site, just like the lock-keepers. "The project was supported by Voies Navigables de France as part of the development of the Canal de la Marne au Rhin.
