Practical information

Historic monument or place to visit in METZ, on the theme(s) Architecture, Military interest.
The Imperial Quarter was built around the railway station at the behest of German Emperor Wilhelm II at the beginning of the 20th century, to modernize and expand the city. This gigantic construction site, which saw the erection of a monumental station, a post office and numerous facilities, also allowed a multitude of architectural styles to flourish. Master builders constructed neo-Romanesque, neo-Gothic, Haussmannian, Jugendstil and Art Nouveau houses and buildings, which coexisted without clashing.
