Pari are female creatures from Persian mythology, similar to fairies. Winged beings of exceptional beauty, they possess supernatural powers and have mastered the art of metamorphosis. Initially associated with dark forces, they have, over time, become luminous figures in Persian folklore. Pari-Banu is one such creature. Reduced in the modern Western imagination to the role of a passive beauty in need of rescue, she regains the scope and power of her ancestral nature in this performance.
Born from the collaboration of artists from diverse backgrounds, *Pari-Banu* is a performance that brings together music, dance, and video in a vibrant and ever-evolving form. Between scripted elements and improvisation, boundaries dissolve to make way for a space of shared experience, traversed by cultures, memories, and imaginations. This space pays tribute to the invisible strength of women in the narratives that shape our imaginations as well as in contemporary societies—a tribute closely linked to the Zan, Zendegi, Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom) movement.
