An essential energy source for our country for more than thirty years, from the 50s to the 80s, coal was mined in many of our region's mines.
Mining towns were built to accompany the development of the activity and to house the miners, notably in Behren-les-Forbach, Cocheren, Forbach, Petite-Rosselle, Schœneck and Stiring-Wendel.
This structuring of the neighborhoods in our communities is characteristic of mining architecture and bears witness to the glorious years, just like the headframes in the mine shafts...
