The Vergaville Abbey cheese factory has been keeping the Saulnois cheese-making tradition alive since 1938.
The Vergaville Abbey, founded in 966, has been home to a cheese production unit since the beginning of the 20th century. Passed through the hands of several families, the cheese factory has produced Camembert, Port Salut and Italian cheeses such as Asiago.

Today, the Abbey cheese factory is the last small cheese factory of its kind in the region. It continues to produce its cheeses according to the methods of yesteryear. The cheese dairy now produces different ranges of products: Italian, Lorraine and Alsatian. Thanks to its quality products it has succeeded in developing abroad.
