"Funny How?", Christophe Chassol's fifth album, builds on his "Ultrascores" series while marking a shift toward a more contemporary sound and more political themes. Inspired by American stand-up comedy, the album blends soul, jazz, rap, and musical theater, creating a dialogue between the voices of figures like Dave Chappelle and Dulcé Sloan and those of emerging comedians.
Drawing on archival footage and images shot in New York and Chicago, Chassol harmonizes reality to reveal its hidden nuances and craft a choral, musical, and socially conscious narrative.
