From the Zinsel valley, the ruins of the Grand Arnsbourg castle are accessible by two paths in the forest, one direct and steep, the other longer but easier.

Equipped with a remarkable Romanesque keep, the castle was built on a hundred-metre-long sandstone bar consisting of two rocks separated by a fault. It was certainly built during the second half of the 12th century to watch over the road from Haguenau to Bitche along the Zinsel. The castle is mentioned in ruins in 1547.
