Practical information

Public gardens / promenades in METZ.
A tour for pedestrians and cyclists, from the Pont des Grilles to the Porte des Allemands, takes in the city's 13th- to 15th-century ramparts. Then on to Fort de Bellecroix, where you'll discover the city's fortifications from the 18th and 19th centuries. It was under Louis XV that Cormontaigne, Vauban's successor, partly completed the double crown of Fort de Bellecroix, under the direction of the military governor, Marshal de Belle-Isle, between 1734 and 1740. Along the way, two lookouts offer views of the old town.
